Portaflow 330 flowmeter used to check waste water flow rates from an energy from waste plant
A Micronics Portaflow 330 has been used by a Worcestershire and Herefordshire-based municipal waste management company to check the flow rates of waste water from a 200,000 tonne per year Energy-from-Waste facility near Kidderminster, Worcestershire against in-line flowmeters. The Severn Waste Services EnviRecover plant operates 24/7 throughout the year so they could not afford an interruption to their procedures of receiving, sorting and despatching all the clean recyclables collected from households across Worcestershire and Herefordshire. EnviRecover forms part of an integrated plan at reducing the amounts of waste being sent to landfill sites from across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Andy Dormer, Severn Waste’s engineer on site simply searched the internet when the need to compare the two flows arose and was pleased to discover that Micronics produce a portable flowmeter, which would enable him to check on multiple sites. It straps to the outside of pipes without the need to cut into them and this greatly reduces the costs and the time needed for making the checks. He has been very pleased with his choice and will continue to use Micronics flowmeters in the future. “I selected the Portaflow because the costs of use are very low and because it is quick and easy to commission. Also, there is minimal disruption to the plant because of the simplicity and economy of operation.
