Smoothflow Commissioning

Micronics PF330 portable flow meter used to investigate building services operation at Canary Wharf.

A Micronics Portaflow 330 was used at German banking giant Deutschebank in Canary Wharf by Smoothflow Commissioning Ltd, one of the first fully integrated Water Treatment and Commissioning companies in the UK. Rickmansworth-based Smoothflow needed to measure the flow rate through some pipe work with faulty orifice plates and were told by a supplier that a Micronics flowmeter would perform the task perfectly.

Paul Armstrong, Smoothflow’s Contracts Manager was very satisfied with the discovery: “Micronics have a very good range of flowmeters. We normally use digital flowmeters but they could not obtain a reading, however, the Portaflow was ideal for this job and we will definitely be using it again for other projects. These include small hospitality and retail, through pharmaceutical and healthcare to large commercial/residential developments.”

The Micronics portable flowmeter is very simple and its operation straightforward.  It simply clamps onto the pipe without any need to cut into the pipe and therefore the costs of installation are very low. Because it is quick and easy to commission there is minimal disruption to site, which was very important to Deutschbank’s busy offices in the heart of London’s financial district. Compact, rugged and reliable, the Portaflow range has been designed to provide sustained performance in many environments. With its easy to follow menu and simple set up, results can be achieved within minutes of opening the case which is very important in the demanding environment of the financial world.
