Multiple Micronics flowmeters used to measure flow for Huddersfield Engineering Company
12 Micronics U1000 flowmeters were used with PLC panels by Heatherose, an electrical engineering company based in Newark, Nottinghamshire with over 35 years of expertise in the design and manufacture of electrical control and distribution panels.
Heatherose were approached by a Huddersfield-based client to work on their PLC (programmable logic controllers), industrial digital computers which can be configured for the control of manufacturing processes, such as assembly lines, robotic devices, or any application that requires high reliability control, ease of programming and process fault diagnosis. Joe Ross, Heatherose’s Purchasing Manager searched the internet to find a robust flowmeter that was very reliable and non-invasive, obviating the need to drain down the system or cut into pipes so that installation costs were minimal and could be carried out rapidly. He performed an internet search to find just such a flowmeter which he also wanted pre-configured for pipe size so there would only be nominal configuration required on site and with an easy to follow menu making it a cost-effective alternative to a traditional in-line meter installation. In addition dry servicing should be possible so that downtime would be kept to a minimum. He discovered the Micronics U1000, which is designed to work with clamp on transducers. It accurately measures liquid flowing through a closed pipe and with its easy to follow menu and simple set up proved to be a cost-effective alternative to a traditional in-line meter installation. Plus with no need to drain down during installation, operation or servicing, costly and disruptive downtime is kept to a minimum, absolutely vital in this fast moving industry.
Joe Ross is more than satisfied with his discovery: “Our clients were very pleased with the Micronics unit and I would definitely use Micronics products for future projects where a reliable, cost-effective flowmeter is required.”
