Micronics flowmeters measure water flow in Scottish swimming pools
SP Filtration, Glasgow-based specialists in swimming pool filtration and water treatment use Micronics U4000 flowmeters to verify the flow of water through a filter net in swimming pools across Scotland. Because water has to go through the filter at a given speed to raise 7 tonnes of sand it is crucial that the flow is estimated as accurately as possible. Matt McDermott, SP Filtration’s Director has long experience of using Micronics flowmeters and has always found them to be quick to use because there is no system drain down or pipe cutting required. “Micronics units mean that there is no need to cut into pipes and the system does not need to be drained down or pipes cut into which is clearly a great advantage in the swimming pool industry where members of the public use them on an almost daily basis. Operation is very straightforward and the accuracy of the data delivered is excellent. The menu is easy to follow and installation costs are minimal, another huge plus. Furthermore the technical support and assistance from Micronics has always been tremendous.””
Micronics flowmeters are configured for pipe size so there is nominal configuration required on site and they are a very cost-effective alternative to a traditional in-line meter installation. In addition dry servicing is possible so that downtime is kept to a minimum, again a vital advantage in this sector. Designed to work with clamp on transducers the U4000 is a transit time ultrasonic flow meter which provides precise measurement of liquid flowing within a closed pipe, without the need for any mechanical parts to be inserted through the pipe wall or to protrude into the flow system. It takes just a few minutes to install, a great advantage in the leisure sector greatly appreciated by Matt McDermott.
SP Filtration’s core business was established in 1977 and clients range from small domestic installations to large local authority recreational facilities.
