Micronics portable flowmeters used for multiple purposes
As designers, manufacturers and installers of cleaning and disinfection systems for the food, dairy and beverage industries HMD uses a Micronics Portaflow 330 for testing Clean-in-place (CIP)* systems for clients throughout the UK and overseas. Cheshire-based H&M Disinfection Systems Ltd (HMD) also use the Micronics units to monitor the flow of fluids per minute and to check chilled water systems aren’t freezing up and to see if flow measures up to expectations. It allows Stephen Hall, HMD’s Director and his team to identify the flow rates from various nozzle configurations and optimise cleaning and disinfection. ”We often use the Micronics Portaflow as a commissioning tool. It gives us the ability to monitor and validate the flow volumes over a given time period allowing us to check and plan how much liquid is needed. Monitoring maximum and minimum flows gives us the information needed to select the correct pumps and nozzles for each application. It has proved invaluable for the past decade.”
12 years ago Stephen Hall saw a colleague using a Portaflow and decided that the same unit would be really useful in his business. He initially hired one but found it was used so frequently that he purchased one and has been so pleased with it that he has recommended it to other businesses with a similar requirement.
The Micronics Portaflow range, including the 220, 330 and 440IP and the D550 Doppler Flowmeter are clamp-on ultrasonic instruments. An excellent feature is that they are non-invasive, which means no interruption to process and no downtime whilst the portable flowmeter units are installed. They deliver simple, accurate flow measurement from outside the pipe. With it’s easy to follow menu and simple set up results can be achieved within minutes. Compact, rugged and dependable, Portaflow provides constant performance in industrial situations.
*CIP systems: Clean-in-place (CIP) is a method of cleaning the interior surfaces of pipes, vessels, process equipment, filters and associated fittings, without disassembly.
