Major hospital relies on Micronics flowmeters to monitor energy usage
7 Micronics U1000 flowmeters were used by North East Controls, an installer of building control systems to allow the Trust that runs the Royal Hallamshire hospital in Sheffield to monitor energy usage on the heating and cooling coils of the air handling unit. This was to enable costs to be apportioned to individual departments. The Energy Manager at the hospital had already employed NE Controls of Newcastle-upon-Tyne to install 5 U1000’s to measure the energy usage in the production of domestic hot water at the hospital so was very confident that the same Micronics units would be ideal for this function too.
North East Controls design and install integrated building systems for controlling HVAC systems, lighting and door access, which reduce energy consumption and maximise energy performance whilst maintaining a comfortable environment for building occupants. Derek Illman, NE Controls’ Projects Director was very satisfied with the way the U1000s performed. “We frequently use Micronics flowmeters because they deliver valuable data and are extremely reliable. Furthermore, installation and setup are very straightforward, saving time and costs.”
Micronics Ltd commenced trading in 1985 and was set up to design and market “Clamp-On” ultrasonic liquid flow meters for industry and commerce. Since its inception Micronics have sold clamp-on meters in more than 80 countries. The range includes portable instruments and fixed meters based on the use of non-invasive ultrasonic sound transmission to detect liquid flow velocity within closed pipes or open channels. The U1000 offers a quick and reliable flow measurement solution and only nominal configuration on site is required, minimising intervention. Furthermore, dry servicing is possible so that downtime is kept to a minimum which is especially important in a hospital which, of necessity operates 24/7.
