Micronics U1000 flowmeters used to check flow and return rates in Lincolnshire factory
A Lincolnshire-based manufacturer of high power semiconductors and power assemblies use 2 Micronics U1000 flowmeters, communicating with their factory BMS system, to check the flow and return rates of water through 2 x 3” ABS pipes. Clive Roberts an engineer at Dynex Semiconductor Ltd was concerned that if the flows dipped too low it would indicate that there was a leak which would be a major problem. Dynex had used a Micronics unit for 4 or 5 years and bought 2 more in March 2019, as the original units had successfully monitored the rates and delivered such excellent data. They also purchased a Micronics Portaflow portable flowmeter to ensure that individual pieces of equipment use the required 2 cubic metres of water an hour.
The Micronics U1000 represents a quick and reliable flow measurement solution. It was chosen because it meant that there was no need to cut into pipes which, in turn meant that installation costs were minimal because the system did not need to be drained down or pipes cut into. It is configured for pipe size so there is nominal configuration on site. With its easy to follow menu it has been an economical alternative to the fitting of traditional in-line meters. Also, because dry servicing can be achieved lost time is greatly reduced. Its operation has proved exceptional. Compact, rugged and reliable, the U1000 has been designed to provide constant performance in manufacturing situations.
Dynex designs and manufactures high power semiconductors for customers around the world including the European, US and the rapidly growing Far Eastern markets. The Power Semiconductor operation manufactures a range of high power Module and Bipolar discrete products that include insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) and diode modules, IGBT/FRD die, fast diodes, fast thyristors, gate turn-off thyristors, rectifier diodes, phase control thyristors and transistors. Dynex’s products throughout the years have been applied in projects that vary from traction, power quality through HVDC, renewable energy production, to helping science advance.
