Micronics flowmeter facilitates discharge consent for bakery
A 140 year old, family-run bakery uses a Micronics U4000 flowmeter to separate out the flow of water from 2 supplies coming into the bread plant, to facilitate the discharge consent from the North West’s water company, United Utilities. The bakery supplies bread from their bakery to supermarkets and independent grocery stores nationally and operate 24/7 so had issues around breaking into pipes.
The Environmental Manager wanted a non-invasive flowmeter in the summer of 2018, which would obviate the requirement to cut into pipes and asked colleagues for recommendations. She heard about the Micronics unit which apparently offered a quick and reliable flow measurement solution and which would provide a cost-effective alternative to a traditional in-line meter installation. She has not been disappointed. “The Micronics U4000 has worked well. It has meant there is no need to drain down the plant, very important in the fast-moving procedures we have here because we run a 24/7 operation.”
Micronics meters are configured for pipe size meaning that only nominal configuration is required on site. Dry servicing is also possible so costly and disruptive downtime is kept to a minimum which adds to the time-saving features. Compact, rugged and reliable, the Ultraflow has been designed to provide sustained performance in industrial environments. Operation is straightforward with an easy-to-follow menu and the data delivered is accurate, crucial to the Environmental Manager and the whole bakery team.
