NW Total Engineered Solutions Ltd: Manufacturing and Engineering company use Micronics portable flowmeter to prove the performance of pumps
Barrow-in-Furness based NW Total Engineered Solutions Ltd, a manufacturing and engineering company specialising in process equipment packages perform hydraulic testing of various pump types regularly use a Micronics Portaflow 330 flowmeter to prove the performance of pumps by testing flow and pressure. Because customers ask NW Total to set up the pipework exactly as it is on site, there is no possibility of adding anything in-line such as a positive displacement flowmeter. The Portaflow 330 is non-intrusive and can be strapped onto the outside of pipes without the need to cut into the pipe and is therefore ideal both for evaluating conditions on site and also at various NW Total test rigs. It allows more accurate testing of pumps and systems and crucially allows Matthew Groves, NW Total’s Applications Engineer to extend this to site conditions. Significant savings are achieved thanks to the accurate assessment of a pump’s existing flow rate prior to replacement meaning that the replacement pump is fit for purpose and is accurately sized. Because the end user makes considerable cost savings down the line it protects NW Total from costly mistakes with supply.
Simon Hudson, NW Total’s Nuclear Business Manager was delighted to have discovered the Micronics unit when he searched Google for ultrasonic flowmeters and would use it without hesitation on future occasions. “We will continue to use this excellent flowmeter whenever we need to test flow and pressure and would definitely recommend its use to others where they need to perform similar tests”.
